WOW: you can get married at McDonald’s and it costs next to nothing!
‘A Big Mac, two Happy Meals with extra fries sauce, a portion of chicken nuggets and a McWedding, please.’ No, this isn’t a limited-edition burger, but an actual wedding at Maccie. Wow.
Of course, you can—as these Dutch people did once—have your wedding dinner at McDonald’s. But actually getting married at McDonald’s with a complete McDonald’s package? That is also possible!
Okay, (for now) it’s only possible in Hong Kong. It has been since 2011, by the way, but we only heard about it when YouTuber Safiya Nygaard said her vows between the hamburgers.
McWedding packages
You can choose between four packages, ranging from 350 to 1150 euros. Okay, it’s a bit more than you’d normally spend at Maccie, but hey: it is the best day of your life and just look up how much a ‘normal’ wedding costs. Exactly. A bargain.
What do you get? To start with, the space is yours for two hours. With the cheapest package, you get a master of ceremonies and an audio system at your disposal. Going for the most expensive package? Then you get special McDonald’s wedding rings, a bridal bouquet made of balloons and a cake made of stacked apple pies.
First date
It’s a hit in Hong Kong. The service is now offered at fifteen locations. “We started it at the time because we often heard from lovebirds that their first date had taken place at a McDonald’s. A lot of love stories have begun here,” said a spokesperson.
