Yes: terraces may stay open longer during the summer terrace season

What wonderful news to brighten up this sunny day. Because, to be completely honest: last summer was just awful. A-W-F-U-L. No festivals, no sunshine, no clubs, but plenty of rain. And now that all the holidays are over and schools or studies may have started again, the sun suddenly decides to shine. Typical. As we speak, it’s absolutely boiling in here.

But there is good news. The terrace season is being extended by a month, which means that all terraces may remain larger and open for longer through 31 October.

The numbers don’t lie

And that works out well, because according to research by The Fork, the figures are crystal clear: over the past three months, hospitality businesses with a terrace received no fewer than twice as many reservations as restaurants without one. Just think: the weather wasn’t even nice yet. With this sunshine, those reservations will naturally go through the roof. So, one extra tip: start planning. I’m certainly busy doing that. All those terrace days must and will be put to good use.
