Yes: two new veggie hits at Burger King

A fan of Burger King, but not so much of meat? Or a committed flexitarian? Then you don’t have to overlook this fast-food chain, because alongside their existing veggie range, they now have two new sandwiches on the menu for “burgers who prefer plants” (love that). And they’re bound to be hits, considering both are made with fantastic ‘meat’ from The Vegetarian Butcher!

Burger King has managed to tap into an entirely new customer base since their meat substitutes have been made by The Vegetarian Butcher, and according to the latter, this is “a revolution that cannot be stopped”. All good, as long as these latest creations stay on the menu too!
The Cajun Veggie King
This is the familiar King substitute as a burger, with fresh rocket, fresh tomato, cheese and a spicy Cajun sauce on a freshly toasted bun. Ideal if you prefer the Whopper as a plant-based version, but also enjoy a bit of spice. By the way, this burger is prepared on the same grill as the meat burgers, because logistically it isn’t feasible to use different grill plates on such a large scale.

The Cajun Veggie Chicken
The same toppings, including the spicy Cajun sauce and rocket, but this time with a plant-based chicken burger served on an extra-long sesame bun. Both dishes are vegetarian, not vegan, as they do contain some dairy.
Cheers
We think it’s a positive development that a company like Burger King, with its reach, is taking responsibility by offering more and more plant-based options. What’s more, The Vegetarian Butcher naturally feels a bit like ‘one of us’ as a Dutch company, and we’re proud that Jaap Korteweg has achieved so much through sheer perseverance. Go Jaap, and to all BK lovers: Go Cajun!
