He makes the best bara in the country, prefers to drink champagne, secretly eats canned frankfurters when no one is looking, has already been named Chef of the Year by Gault&Millau and has two Michelin stars to his name. And now—what a stunt!—Jumbo is launching a dinner box for home featuring dishes by top chef Soenil Bahadoer. Believe me: you really want to buy this one—and especially at that price!

Soenil Bahadoer of restaurant De Lindehof** is known for his incredible dishes featuring Surinamese and Indian ingredients that come together in the ultimate flavor combination. And now, for an absurdly low price, you can experience for yourself just how amazingly delicious Soenil’s Surinamese-Indian Michelin-starred cuisine is, including his irresistible rendang.

What’s cooking?

There are two dinner boxes; the first box contains Indian mackerel with pak choi, fennel, a hint of curry and Vadouvan dressing as a starter, followed by teriyaki chicken thigh fillet, rice with kaffir lime leaf and lemongrass combined with Indian green beans, bean sprouts and a little sambal. And after this delicious main course has been conjured onto the table, the ultimate ‘finishing touch’ follows: a delectable Apple-Pineapple Tulip, made with five spices and marinated pineapple.

The second box also contains all the ingredients for a delicious dinner. Starting with Tom Kha Kai with shiitake, marinated prawns and kaffir lime oil as a starter. The main course is beef rendang with grilled white cabbage and atjar, rice with lemongrass and kaffir lime leaf, followed once again by Apple-Pineapple Tulip, made with five spices and marinated pineapple, to finish the dinner.

‘With these dinner boxes, I hope to inspire as many people as possible to bring out the star chef within themselves. Because developing your own style is ultimately the greatest gift for any chef,’ says Soenil.

Be quick!

The meal box contains ingredients from Soenil Bahadoer to put a three-course menu on the table within fifteen minutes, with just a few simple steps. To see how the master himself prepares these beautiful dishes, the preparation of all three courses is also available to watch on video. You can access it by scanning the QR code on the card inside the dinner box. Be quick, though, because this is a short-lived stunt; the boxes are available exclusively from April 2 through 4 for €30 and €35 at all Jumbo Foodmarkets and at the Jumbo run by entrepreneur Ton Grimberg in Nuenen.
