This Dark ‘N Stormy is everything you want and more

Yes, it’s not even officially autumn yet, but autumn weather is already making an appearance. And what do you do on a day like that? Exactly: stay indoors and leisurely sip a Dark ‘n Stormy. As far as we’re concerned, this weather is the best excuse to make this cocktail.

The Dark ‘n Stormy is considered the national drink of Bermuda. Rum is distilled throughout the island, and they also make ginger beer there, which is why you’ll find this cocktail in pretty much every bar. It belongs to the mule family – generally fresher cocktails – but the dark rum gives it a somewhat robust flavour.
Make it yourself?
For each cocktail, use approx. 30 millilitres of freshly squeezed lime juice, approx. 60 millilitres of dark rum and approx. 15 millilitres of sugar syrup. Shake these together with ice in a cocktail shaker and pour into a highball glass. Top the glass up to the rim with ginger beer and add a few drops of Angostura bitters to taste. Garnish the Dark ‘n Stormy with a lime slice and serve.
