Egg muffin
Best known from the menu of our favorite fast-food chain, so American, but served on a British bun. An English muffin with an egg, ham or bacon and a slice of cheese. You can make the muffins yourself or buy them at Marks & Spencers.

Biscuits
In the southern United States, they make a similar sandwich, but with biscuits—not to be confused with Dutch biscuits. The texture is flaky and similar to that of a scone, but a biscuit is savory. In some cases, they even top it with fried chicken or gravy, to really start the day off right.

Marmite toast
Many people shudder at the extremely salty, intensely flavored spread called Marmite. But in England, they simply spread it on buttered toast. You’ll definitely be wide awake afterward.

kaya

Kaya toast
In Malaysia and Singapore, they start the day with the perfect combination of sweet and savory. Kaya jam has the texture of custard and the flavor of coconut and pandan; you spread it on toast and eat it with a soft-boiled egg and soy sauce.

Arepas
These grilled buns made from cornmeal are eaten all day in Venezuela and Colombia. So why not have them for breakfast too, with an egg, avocado or cheese?
