This Is How Peeling Garlic Becomes a Breeze

Knoflook grinder (1)

Maybe not everyone can relate, but peeling—and, in its wake, chopping garlic—causes a whole lot of frustration for FavorFlav’s Sharon. Until she was given this unbelievably handy garlic gadget. Goodbye garlic struggle!

Because the struggle is real, people

I’ve used garlic for as long as I’ve been cooking. Never the jarred kind, but fresh garlic. And although some people swear by a garlic press, I find a garlic press incredibly annoying. First, you have to peel that damn skin off your garlic (struggle 1), then you almost never press out the entire clove (struggle 2), next you have to pick the leftovers out of the press (struggle 3), after which cleaning the garlic press is never exactly easy either (struggle 4). I know, first-world problems and hardly anything to get worked up about, but still: this has to be easier, right? And without smelly fingers, too?

Hallelujah, yes!

My garlic-cooking life suddenly became so much easier when my mother gave me a ‘Garlic grinder’. This handy set consists of a hand mill for chopping garlic into tiny pieces super quickly, plus a silicone roller. You put a garlic clove in the roller, roll it between your hands for a moment, or roll it over a flat surface, and the skin comes off very easily. You put one or more cloves into the grinder, then twist the lid back and forth—the longer you twist, the more finely the garlic is ground. BRILLIANT.

On sale

You now pay just € 9,95 (instead of € 14,95) for this little bit of everyday convenience, because the Garlic grinder is currently on sale at Oil & Vinegar. I’d go for it, if I were you.
