This is the one ingredient we would never cook with

We’re not the only ones who feel this way; we’re joining the ranks of Gordon Ramsay, Martha Stewart, Julius Jaspers and probably thousands of other chefs. Because let’s be honest: who actually wants to cook with truffle oil (a.k.a. chemical stuff)?

Truffle season has been underway for a while now, and according to Julius Jaspers, they’re still easy to get hold of until February. After that, we’ll have to make do with the impossible-to-find truffle in truffle oil, no f*cking way, then.
Ramsay and Stewart
We’re not alone in this. Here’s what Gordon Ramsay and Martha Stewart have to say about it: “One of the most pungent, ridiculous ingredients ever known to chefs,” according to Ramsay, while Stewart says: “I hate truffle oil. It’s horrible and horrible for you. It’s made out of chemicals, and it’s not pure truffles.”
Zero percent truffle
As Julius Jaspers says: “If you look at the back of a bottle, you’ll see that it contains exactly zero percent truffle.” So especially leave it on the shelf if you want to go for the real truffle. In any case, we’ll never cook with this product.
Cheaper than ever
We’re in luck that white truffles are cheaper than ever this year. The heavy rainfall in northern Italy caused an enormous proliferation of the white gold, resulting in the price being cut in half, read all about it.
