12 of the strangest McDonald’s locations worldwide

UFO McDonald's

Wherever you are in the world, you’ll recognize McDonald’s by its iconic M (which, incidentally, doesn’t stand for Mac but for this). But in some countries, there are some rather, um, strange McDonald’s locations. If these buildings hadn’t featured that distinctive M, we might have missed the place where you drink the best cola with your BigMac.

It all started with a tweet from this woman, who shared the somewhat strange McDonald’s in Freeport. Then things took off, and fellow Twitter users started sharing strange-looking McDonald’s locations en masse.

The president’s house

This McDonald’s in China is located in the former home of a Taiwanese president. We don’t know what it looks like inside, but chairs with 24-karat gold trim and linen napkins would complete this McDonald’s.

Airplane McDonald’s

This McDonald’s in an airplane definitely wins first prize for originality.

In the bank

Let’s be honest, these McDonald’s locations in bank buildings are seriously fancy. Complete with chandeliers, too!

Flying saucer

You can’t look outside when you’re flipping a little burger in this UFO.

Train ride

Taking the train in a corona-proof way? No problem at this location!

Museum McDonald’s

This McDonald’s looks like a museum, doesn’t it? And where is the M?!

Blue is the new yellow

This is the only McDonald’s in the world with a turquoise M.

On a boat

A McDonald’s boat? Yes, please.

House

A fast-food restaurant in a house, it’s wild.
