For example, did you already know about the aha moment involving the packaging of your aluminium foil? No more arguments with that roll! Or how about one of the other handy hacks…

Pinggg

Get more out of your microwave by simply putting more in it. How? By creating an extra level! Two plates probably won’t fit next to each other, but if you make a raised platform with an upside-down cup, you can (carefully) place a second plate on top. Handy!

Using A Microwave More Efficiently

Ice-cold beer, in no time

A bottle (lager, for example) cools even faster in the freezer if you wrap a moistened piece of kitchen paper around it. An ice-cold beauty coming up in about ten minutes!

The secrets of the aluminium foil packaging

Have you ever looked at the side of the cardboard packaging of a roll of foil? It contains two tabs that you can press in. This keeps the roll in place better, so it doesn’t fall out every time you open the box. I admit it: I lived almost three-quarters of my life without knowing this.

Ribbons of vegetables or chocolate

A vegetable peeler can be used for more than just peeling potatoes or winter carrots. You can also use it to make beautiful ribbons from a courgette for a salad, or from that same peeled winter carrot. You can make cheese curls too, from a piece of Parmesan or Grana Padano, or chocolate flakes to sprinkle over a cake or dessert.

Thrifty sourness

Did you only need a few drops of lemon juice (for the rum and cola, for example), and therefore cut off only a small cap from the lemon? You can keep the remaining lemon from drying out by reattaching the cap with a simple toothpick. This keeps the lemon fresh for a little longer, and means you don’t need to use plastic wrap or aluminium foil to cover it.

Lemons

Well, we can save all these tips in our mental database too, making life (at least when it comes to household matters) a little easier once again!
