6 of the best boozy iced coffees right now

In summer, you might be drinking iced coffee every afternoon, just like me, but who says it can’t be livened up a little with a kick—in other words, a splash of alcohol? And if you think Irish Coffee is pretty much the only option when it comes to a good after-dinner caffeine treat—think again!

These are the most inspiring coffee-and-alcohol drinks around right now, perfect at the end of a dinner or perhaps even with drinks… as long as you promise that in the morning you’ll stick to (possibly plant-based) milk or sugar!
Anatolia Café
- 30 ml cognac
- 30 ml cherry liqueur
- 7.5 ml cinnamon syrup
Mix everything in a nice glass, pour in coffee and finish with whipped cream and ground cinnamon.
Jazzed Up
- 45 ml cognac
- 15 ml Grand Marnier
- 15 ml amaro
- 15 ml simple syrup
- 30 ml cold brew coffee—here’s how to make it
Shake in a shaker with ice cubes and strain into a tall glass filled with ice cubes.
Siciliano
- 60 ml vermouth
- 45 ml amaro
- 45 ml cold brew coffee
- 30 ml simple syrup
- sparkling water
Mix all the ingredients except the sparkling water in a glass and stir with a spoon. Fill the glass with ice and add a little sparkling water. Garnish with a slice or twist of orange.
Coffee Old Fashioned
- 1 double espresso (approx. 60 ml) at room temperature
- 30 ml bourbon
- 7.5 ml simple syrup
- a splash of bitters (such as Angostura)
- piece of lemon peel
Add all the ingredients except the lemon peel to a shaker and fill with ice cubes. Don’t shake; stir for 30 seconds with a long spoon and pour into a whisky glass filled with ice cubes. Rub the lemon peel around the rim of the glass and serve.
Cold Brew Cabana
- 45 ml dark (Havana) rum
- 20 ml cold brew coffee
- 20 ml banana liqueur
- 1 tsp ginger syrup
- 1 drop vanilla extract
Shake all the ingredients with ice cubes and strain into a coupe.
Iced Irish Coffee
- 60 ml Irish whiskey
- 1 tsp ground espresso beans
- 2 tsp cane sugar
- 2 tsp hot water
- 90 ml cold brew coffee
- 2 tsp cream
Put the whiskey and ground coffee beans in a small jug or bowl and leave for 15 minutes. Strain through a fine sieve into a shaker. Dissolve the sugar in the hot water in a cup and add to the shaker. Add the cold brew coffee, ice and shake. Pour into a tall glass filled with ice cubes and add the cream last.
