8 supermarket customer comments that are just really weird, #4

On Facebook, you keep going wild over bizarre comments from supermarket customers. These gems are simply too good not to share. So here they are: 8 supermarket customer comments that are just really weird, part 4.

For your scrapbook
People have plenty of comments when asked, ‘Would you like the receipt?’ Samantha keeps hearing them on busy workdays, ranging from ‘No, hang it above your bed’ to ‘No, keep it for your scrapbook.’ Samantha: ‘Just a grown man or woman saying this, you know…’ Anne finds it exhausting too. When asked the same question, she might hear: ‘Can I bring it back when it’s finished?’ The ladies consider them rather stale jokes. But they’re still better than those sourpusses at your checkout; Wilma knows all about them. One regular customer often came through Wilma’s checkout. And whenever she asked, ‘Would you like the receipt?’ this customer would reply: ‘No, I’ve already received enough of those in my life.’
FRESH baguettes?
Janneke: ‘Customers who ask whether we also have fresh baguettes on Sundays.’ It always makes her laugh, but she thinks to herself, ‘as if ovens have Sundays off…’
Mother’s Day promotion
It’s not just chaos at the supermarket. Greetje was happy that, after being closed for three months, she could get back to work. And then the very first customer at the hair salon asks: ‘Are you doing the Mother’s Day promotion again this year?’ Um, I haven’t been able to earn anything for months, what do you think?
1+1?
Buy one, get one free—who doesn’t love it? But apparently there are customers who often leave one of the two items in the shopping cart and don’t mention it. Claudie then has to ask, ‘Oh sir, do you have two of these?’ And the customer answers: ‘Yes, but that one is free.’ Claudie: ‘Good for you, and luckily the checkout knows that too, but not scanning it is considered theft, and now the stock levels are no longer accurate…‘
A little too personal…
Margot also experiences a lot. She works in home care in the same neighbourhood where she works behind the supermarket checkout. And then people she knows from home care turn up at her checkout with rather too-personal stories and questions. ‘HELLO, today I’m not a nurse but a cashier!’
Cleaner on fire
Heidi finds it very annoying that supermarket cleaners are regarded as ignorant. Example: a customer asks Heidi whether she might be able to help her. Heidi is happy to help, so she quickly puts her cleaning cloth aside. But then the customer casually says, ‘Oh, I don’t think you know, because you’re the cleaner.’ Stupid, according to Heidi: ‘Never underestimate a cleaner; a cleaner knows where everything is better than many a supermarket employee.’
Forgotten to scan
Not scanning a plastic bag, well, okay. But leaving a crate of beer on the cart and not saying anything about it—that’s something Angelina has an opinion on. She says nothing, but scans the crate first at the checkout. And she deliberately gives the receipt to the customer. Angelina: ‘And then you see the customers walk away very quickly and look at the receipt. They just about stop when they see that the crate of beer has actually been scanned…’
HELLO?
Agnes worked at De Bijenkorf for years and was asked ‘Hello, does this belong here?’ a little too often. An Agnes’s colleague would then say to the customer in question: ‘HELLO, is on vacation.’ Haha, a very silly one, but we get the point.
