After corona: you can now buy a voucher for restaurant Noma (but the price may come as a bit of a shock)

From special delivery to online courses and from wine auctions to restaurant vouchers, entrepreneurs worldwide are trying to keep their heads above water in creative ways. Chef René Redzepi of the world-famous restaurant Noma is doing the same. With his ‘prepayment vouchers’, you will soon be able to secure a seat at his table.

For no fewer than four years in a row, Noma, the restaurant in Copenhagen that works exclusively with ingredients from Scandinavia, was named the best restaurant in the world. But this restaurant, too, was forced to close its doors because of corona. On 14 March, René Redzepi closed the door of Noma behind him, and Noma will remain closed until at least 17 May.

But if you buy one of the restaurant vouchers, you can bypass the endless waiting lists when Noma reopens and finally take a seat at the table. One small detail: you need to have deep pockets.

Eating at Noma means you shouldn’t complain when your food tries to walk off your plate.

Different vouchers

The vouchers start at 5,000 Danish kroner (approximately €670) and go up to more than 100,000 Danish kroner—that’s more than €13,400! In return, you don’t just get a plate of Nordic Cuisine served to you, but, for example, a menu signed by René Redzepi. Interested? Choose one of the options below:

5,000 DKK: menu signed by René Redzepi.

10,000 DKK (€1,340): limited-edition hand-painted menu signed by René Redzepi.

25,000 DKK (€3,350): limited-edition hand-painted and signed menu, plus a special thank-you package including a copy of Foundations of Flavour: The Noma Guide To Fermentation, signed by René and the Noma team, and a selection of products from the Noma Fermentation Lab.

55,000 DKK (€7,371): limited-edition hand-painted and signed menu, plus a special thank-you package including a copy of Foundations of Flavour: The Noma Guide To Fermentation, signed by René and the Noma team, a selection of products from the Noma Fermentation Lab, and a one-hour session with someone from the fermentation team or test kitchen.

100,000 DKK: everything above, plus a numbered print of the Noma space, signed by René Redzepi and the entire team.

Noma at home?

Is all of this a little too much, but are you still burning with curiosity? Then watch the documentary Noma: My Perfect Storm about the long journey chefs René Redzepi and Claus Meye had to undertake before the Danish restaurant was named the best restaurant in the world in 2010—and three more times after that.
