Aston Martin and Bowmore launch a special single malt whisky together
For lovers of fast cars and whisky enthusiasts, a special single malt was recently launched: Bowmore Masters ‘Selection; the first single malt whisky created by whisky brand Bowmore and iconic British sports car brand Aston Martin.
Powerful as a racing engine
The Bowmore Masters ‘Selection comes, like the other Bowmore whiskies, from the island of Islay. This is where the most distinctive Scottish whiskies come from. This is partly due to the harsh sea winds and rain showers that batter the island. Over the centuries, Islay’s peat has become saturated with salty seawater, giving it a typically medicinal character and a briny aroma and flavour. And it produces a powerful single malt whisky – Scottish single malts are known as the best whiskies in the world. (Single malt means that the whisky comes from a single distillery, ed.)
Bowmore® Masters ‘Selection is available in a limited edition and is a creation by Ron Welsh, Bowmore Master Blender, and Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer. The whisky consists of 21-year-old Bowmore matured in sherry casks and a more than 35-year-old Bowmore whisky.
Eternal life
The Bowmore Masters’ Selection is naturally also an excellent investment. Not only because of the special collaboration, but certainly also because whisky can be kept forever. Unlike wine, for example, a bottle of whisky does not continue to mature in the bottle. This also means that it cannot spoil. Heat, light and air will slightly change the flavour and colour, but the whisky will nevertheless remain drinkable. It is best to store an unopened bottle of whisky upright, at room temperature and away from direct sunlight.
The limited-edition Bowmore Masters’ Selection costs €325 and is available from Gall & Gall and independent liquor stores.
