At Aldi, employees make a remarkable discovery: 95 kilos of cocaine
Imagine this: you think you’re having an ordinary day at work at Aldi, unpacking banana boxes and putting them on the shelves. But among the bananas, you find… packages of cocaine. This happened to employees at several German Aldi stores. They discovered no less than 95 kilos of cocaine hidden among the bananas.
Cocaine at Aldi
All the banana boxes came from Aldi’s central warehouse and were shipped from there to the various stores. The value of this shipment is estimated at 7 million euros. How the drugs ended up in the boxes is still being investigated, but according to German media, the banana boxes originally came to the port of Antwerp from Latin America. An extensive investigation into the origin of the shipment is now underway.
Incidentally, this is not the first time something strange has turned up in a supermarket. Years ago, a tarantula was wandering around among the bread rolls and currant buns at an Albert Heijn in Scheveningen. It had probably travelled there with the bananas too…
