The baristas we previously asked about the most bizarre coffee orders they had ever received had already left us astonished: Tabasco in your cappuccino, whutttt? But these baristas also had the most insane orders thrown at them—and were happy to share them!
Because while many people would be mortified to trek to a coffee shop with a hand blender and a knob of butter (see above), the customers of these baristas also went pretty wild. Read on and shudder…
Puppyccino
“We’re used to a babyccino (a small cup of foamed milk) by now, but a puppyccino? Excuse me? The lady wanted a small cup of whipped cream. For the dog.”
A hint, but really just a hint
“A latte with sweetener. But the lady didn’t want the sweetener in the latte. I had to tear open the sachet (powder) right next to the cup, so that only a hint would end up in it…”
So much for cutting back
“The man gave me his own cup for his order: a vanilla latte with TWELVE shots of espresso. It cost about twenty euros, and he ended up with a flood of espresso, a little milk and syrup. He also told me that he had been trying to cut back on caffeine lately.”
Coffee with…
“I made a small latte for a lady. Nothing unusual. Until she pulled three sachets of mayonnaise out of her bag, squeezed them all into the coffee, and drank the whole bloody lot.”
Try to keep it somewhat light
“Water with whipped cream on top.” There really isn’t anything else to say.
One and one makes two
“Without a doubt, the ‘Americola’. Disgusting enough when it’s cold; two shots of espresso over cola with ice. But this monster wanted it hot. We had to explain that we couldn’t steam soda.”
Determined to order a latte
“A student wanted a latte with ice, but without the coffee. I explained what that would mean; she was fine with that. No problem at all paying 3.50 for a cup of milk with ice cubes.”
Nicely seasoned
“A black coffee with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper. I thought it was so strange that I later made one for myself to taste. I have to say: actually, it wasn’t bad at all.”
The beginning of something beautiful
“Citrus complements the flavor of coffee really well. We had a drink that was half cold-brew coffee and half sparkling water with an orange wedge in it, and it was hugely popular.” So you see, all those Dirty O.J. fans might actually have a point!
The caramel wall
“Exactly what I said: the caramel wall. A lady always wanted the entire inside of the cup covered with caramel from top to bottom before the coffee went in. And that, twice a day.”
