Hospitality guests can engage in incredibly disgusting practices, we already knew that, but thanks to our lovely FavorFlav readers (where would we be without you?!) we collected even more filth from the many responses to this article. What a nightmare!

Yes, we write about it more often: we have enormous respect for hospitality workers. Because goodness, what they have to put up with… Working in hospitality can really be hell sometimes. This series of bizarre and downright disgusting behavior by hospitality guests proves that too. Read on and shudder….

Shit, shittier, shittiest

My goodness, how much people poop in hospitality establishments! It’s not normal. Fine if it happens in the toilet, you flush properly, and take one more look behind you to check that you haven’t left skid marks. You know, just like your parents taught you.

Unfortunately for hospitality staff, this isn’t always the reality. Nina once experienced a guest pooping IN the toilet brush holder. That person clearly didn’t quite understand how things work. And it’s not only people who can’t keep their shit in. At the restaurant where Mandy once worked, a man regularly came to eat with his faithful parrot. Beautiful bird, but not very hygienic—and it didn’t exactly look good that it constantly pooped all over the man’s shoulder.

Ashley once had a couple dining at the luxury restaurant where she worked. The man smelled incredibly strongly of poop, as if he hadn’t showered in a year. “Every time I had to go to the table, I held my breath. When the gentleman went home, the truth came out: he had had dog poop under his shoe for the entire dinner (3 hours). He had also happily smeared it into the carpet, leaving a trail through the restaurant.”

Throwing it away is a waste

The vongole story… The poor man who, with pain, effort, and many tears, tried to swallow the clams. Dear stranger at my bar: apparently, you weren’t the only one. It’s the edamame eaters you might be able to start an eating club with. According to Froukje, people repeatedly ate the edamame pods whole—which doesn’t work, so halfway through they choke on the pod. From then on, she asks guests when serving them whether they’ve ever eaten edamame before. Klaas once saw someone wolf down an entire corn cob, while Lilian watched in complete amazement as a man chewed on large, unpeeled prawns, only to laboriously fish the shells out of his mouth afterward.

Smelly, snotty & sticky

Ladies and gentlemen, please just try to be a little hygienic! Take your chewing gum out before you go somewhere to eat? Ask for a bin, use a napkin, just think for a moment! Sticking it to the underside of your table is only acceptable when you’re 5 years old. After that, absolutely not. Dirty diapers are another thing. Just throw them away! Then Lilian won’t have to find them on the serving trays. Linda is particularly annoyed by snot. “When clearing the table, finding five snot-filled tissues on the plates and stuffed into empty glasses. Disgusting. Just put them back in your trouser pocket or bag.”

Ladies and gentlemen, you’ve heard it. Try to behave a little when you’re visiting somewhere. And if you really prefer pooping in the toilet brush holder rather than the toilet? Then do it at home.
