Can we finally have coffee at Central Perk soon?
It’s been 25 years since our friends from Friends first sat on the orange velvet couch. We think that’s worth celebrating. Luckily, Warner Bros. agrees, because for the 25th anniversary of our all-time favorite series, the coffee shop from the show is coming back to life.
Take a deep breath, let it sink in and don’t pivot. We wrote about it a while ago, and our prayers have been answered. This is big news, because since the series began in 1994, there has only been one other pop-up. Last time it was in NYC; this time, thankfully, it’s a little closer to home.
Camera ready?
Central Perk Café will be located in the Primark flagship store in Manchester. The pop-up is a collaboration between Warner Bros. and Primark. So besides coffee, there will also be plenty of Friends merchandise for sale. The opening will take place on June 12. Keep your camera at the ready and put on your best #selfieface, because the coffee shop will be an exact replica of the one in the series.
“Joey doesn’t share food”
Still, the pop-up will feature a ‘New York inspired menu,’ according to Primark. What exactly that includes (and whether there will only be drinks) is unclear. Naturally, we’re secretly hoping that Phoebe’s chocolate chip cookies will be on it. And if she also comes to sing smelly cat, we’ll have had our Friends fix for the time being.
“We were on a break”
Maybe not for much longer, because we have good news! Jennifer Aniston (Rachel) said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she is open to a Friends reunion. This could well mean that the friends will slip back into their old roles once more. As Janice would say: Oh. My. God!
