Opinionated

Can we talk about overly deep necklines in the hospitality industry?

Hooter Girls

Recently, I went out for dinner, so far, nothing unusual. What was new, however, were the server’s boobs, which were impossible to ignore. They were so big, so uncovered and so tattooed that neither I nor my fellow diners could focus on anything else. Now, there’s nothing wrong with big boobs, but in a restaurant, shouldn’t the food be the star of the show?

What didn’t help was that my fifteen-year-old son was sitting at the table. Every time the server in question came our way, he was absolutely mortified, not knowing where to look. And honestly, that applied to everyone in the restaurant, myself included. It’s like driving past a really terrible car accident: you don’t want to look, but you do anyway.

There’s something incredibly uncomfortable about it, which was also clearly visible in the people around us. An older couple next to us—the woman in question felt extremely embarrassed, and her husband could barely make eye contact with the server; I really felt for them.

Porn boobs on display

‘Did the food taste less good because of it?’, I hear you thinking. Good question. The food was good; we had specifically come to this restaurant because the food is so good here. But having two porn boobs on display just as you’re about to take a bite does something to you. And I don’t really understand it either. Surely a restaurant isn’t the place for #nipplegate? The spotlights should, in my opinion, be on the dishes, the drinks and the chefs.

Hooters Girls

If I want to eat surrounded by scantily clad women, I’ll go to Hooters, you know, that extremely tacky American restaurant chain with so-called Hooters Girls serving the food. But in a high-end restaurant, I’d prefer boobs in sweaters. Thank you in advance.
