Cancel your weekend plans: this is how early the hospitality industry has to close…

Closed-sign

NOOOOOOO!!!! Yesterday we already wrote about the possible new measures, but it turns out to be even worse than earlier reports suggested. The hospitality industry has to close as early as 7:00 p.m. tomorrow.

Yesterday, a closing time of 10:00 p.m. was being discussed, two hours earlier than the current closing time. And now you can skip all your dinners and drinks out, because the doors of the hospitality industry will close from 7:00 p.m. Sources in The Hague report that a short, partial three-week lockdown is coming. Starting tomorrow (November 13), the hospitality industry must close at 7:00 p.m., just like shops.

2.9 percent of infections

Koninklijke Horeca Nederland (KHN) placed a full-page advertisement in the newspapers De Telegraaf, Volkskrant, Trouw and Het Parool: ‘Even more measures for the hospitality industry…does that make a difference? Dear Mark and Hugo, just like you, we are concerned. More and more sick people. Healthcare that is grinding to a halt, but we are also concerned about the survival of hospitality businesses. New measures in our sector are being discussed too quickly. In times of crisis, decisions should be made based on facts, figures and reason. The fact is that the latest RIVM figures show that only 2.9 percent of infections originate in the hospitality industry. Without pointing fingers: the number of infections at home, in schools and at work is many times higher.’

Take-Away

There will be another press conference tonight at which the new measures will be announced. But as we have noticed before, where there is smoke, there is fire, and this leak usually means that we can take it as the truth.

So, happy take-away this weekend…
