Most cats certainly do not limit their diet to expensive cans of Sheba or Whiskas nibbles, with the occasional freshly caught mouse or bird on the side. No, if you do not keep an eye on them, they will swipe the cinnamon rolls right off your plate, and even a piece of watermelon is not safe. Not strange at all, says cat expert Barbara Read. ‘Although cats cannot live on vegetables alone, the occasional bit of greens provides healthy variety.’ Barbara also explains which vegetables you should not give to Kitty: onions, garlic, mushrooms, spring onions, leeks and avocado—and be careful with unripe tomatoes too.
