Caution advised: Albert Heijn warns about pulled pork empanadas

Empanadas, I absolutely love the South American snack. With a filling of chicken and chorizo, for example. With pulled pork or spinach and cheese. Albert Heijn sells various types of empanadas – and that’s exactly where things went wrong…

Albert Heijn has decided to remove the AH pulled pork empanadas with a best-before date of 13-08-2022 from its stores. The reason: instead of pulled pork, AH empanadas spinach mozzarella ended up in the packaging. As a result, not all the correct allergens are listed on the packaging.

Spinach mozzarella empanadas

Recently, our Snackspert tasted the new appetisers from Albert Heijn. He thought the pulled pork empanadas were just so-so: ‘Nothing special, decent meat, but they could have been filled better in my opinion,’ he said. He liked the spinach mozzarella empanadas that accidentally ended up in this packaging even less: ‘This is honestly one of the nastiest snacks I’ve eaten in a long time. The spinach is so wet and so overpowering that you can’t taste the mozzarella anywhere,’ said Snackspert.

Purchase price refunded

If you don’t have an allergy, you can simply eat the empanadas with cheese and spinach (taste is subjective). Did you buy them and are you allergic to milk, lactose and/or egg? Then you can return the product to an Albert Heijn store. The purchase price will be refunded when you return the product.
