Chocolate lovers take note: Brabant is getting a giant chocolate attraction
Choco addicts will be flocking to Brabant in droves. That’s because a GIGANTIC chocolate attraction is opening there. At The Chocolate Factory, we can immerse ourselves completely in the world of chocolate. Sorry Efteling, but we’re handing in our annual passes.
The fact that we can’t stay away from chocolate is, well, a fact. But during a visit to The Chocolate Factory, you won’t have to. Because there, you can play your own version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Yep, your biggest childhood wish is coming true. What am I saying—your lifelong dream. Because we still dream about this, don’t we?
A 3.5-hour chocolate experience
Where exactly do you need to be? Veghel. There, on the Noordkade, a former animal-feed factory is being transformed into a real chocolate factory. The factory has no fewer than 10 floors. Attractions related to chocolate can be found throughout the building. There will be a gigantic interactive model, for example, as well as a kind of flying theater. And everywhere you look, you’ll see robots and machines making chocolate live before your eyes. But the absolute best part is that you can get to work yourself in the flavor laboratory. Another wish is coming true there: you’ll design, make and package your own chocolate product. You’ll even get to take home a packet of homemade chocolate sprinkles. Dreams do come true, I told you.
Off to Brabant
The factory isn’t just for fun. It’s also an educational factory, where (or so the plan goes) 7,500 students will get hands-on experience under supervision every year. For example, in the factory itself, but also in one of the food-service outlets, security or the sales and marketing department. Earn your diploma while working in a chocolate factory? I’d almost want to go back to school for that.
A little more patience
It’ll be a while before we can officially show up in Veghel. The exact opening date is not yet known, but in any case, we’ll have to wait until early 2024. That’s when the doors to this little piece of heaven on earth will open. Until then, we’ll just continue immersing ourselves in chocolate at home. With chef Heston Blumenthal’s super-easy chocolate mousse, for example. Or homemade chocolate pastries.
