Corona crisis hits France hard: all bars in Paris closed for two weeks
Starting tomorrow, all bars in Paris will close for fourteen days. This is due to the number of corona infections in France. Last week, all restaurants and bars in Marseille were already shut down; Lyon, Lille and Toulouse are also at risk of having to close their bars.
‘It’s only a crisis when the wine runs out,” goes a popular saying. But for now, not all the wine can be drunk, at least not in (wine) bars… In Paris, the number of infections has risen so high that all cafés and bars must close. Restaurants and bistros that also serve food may remain open, but they must close earlier: the doors must be locked at 10:00 p.m. Spain is also not doing well: in Madrid all bars and restaurants must already close at 8:00 p.m.
Working from home is good
The number of corona infections is rising rapidly in France. In total, 13,627 people are infected, which amounts to 270 infections per 100,000 people. Elisabeth Borne, the French Minister of Employment, called the situation in Paris ‘worrying’ and urged all companies to promote working from home wherever possible.
