The Most Annoying Pranks People Pull in Hospitality, #4

horeca-geintjes (1)

Oh, we do have a laugh in hospitality. And especially now that we’re back in a (light) lockdown, I could use a few more jokes. Luckily, you sent me loads of them in response to the previous edition. Pure delight, all those practical jokes… Did you think we’d gone through them all by now? Nooo way, we’re just going to carry on for a little while longer!

Yes, because these pranks are of course endless. And the best part is: people just keep falling for them. I feel you, though. I did exactly the same thing, as a hospitality newbie.

In the category of silly (but secretly very funny):

1. Send the newbie off to look for a rope. You know, one you can use to bind the soup…

2. ‘Grab the curling iron to curl the lettuce, and MAKE IT SNAPPY!’

3. And once you’ve found that, you can immediately go back for the hook to pull the stock with.

4. I’m absolutely sure we still had some Westmalle Single glasses somewhere in the back… Could you have a look? No, not the ones for Dubbel or Tripel, we still have plenty of those in stock.

5. Hang a carton of yogurt in the fridge. Upside down, of course. How else are you supposed to make hangop?

In the downright disgusting category:

6. So gross: send new employees to the cheesemonger for… head cheese. YUCK!

7. Please tell me no one here fell for this one: go to the supermarket because the placenta has run out. That can’t be right, can it?

In the category where we really feel very sorry for them:

8. Send someone out and don’t you dare come back without… the baseboard step ladder.

9. And, to top it all off: head to the greengrocer for vegetarian beef tomatoes. HAHA!

These hospitality pranks really are the gift that keeps on giving… So please let me know if you know any more, I’m genuinely enjoying this!
