De Foodhallen Rotterdam opens baby restaurant

Anyone who has (just) become a parent knows: going out for dinner suddenly becomes pretty difficult. Dirty diapers, flying vegetable purée and incessant screaming aren’t something you want to subject your fellow diners to. Rotterdam now has a solution: De Kleine Keuken, the first baby restaurant in the Netherlands.

At De Foodhallen in Rotterdam, parents and their little ones can eat undisturbed from 18 to 30 June in the pop-up restaurant run by Kirsten Toeset of baby food brand De Kleine Keuken.
Pumpkin rice with coconut milk
De Kleine Keuken focuses on organic meals for babies; the menu features their most popular dishes. Toeset: ‘Such as salmon with sweet potato and peas, and pumpkin rice with a hint of curry and coconut milk.’
Parents with slightly older children can also stop by for organic snacks. And the parents themselves? They can visit one of the fifteen other food stands that De Foodhallen Rotterdam is home to.
Kids-proof
Toeset: ‘Of course, we thought about all the factors that make going out for dinner enjoyable for parents with little ones. There are high chairs, so you don’t have to hold your child on your lap but can feed them comfortably and safely. The interior will be playful and, above all, very green—we love plants. All in all, it will be an atmospheric and warm place where both parents and babies feel comfortable.’
