Delicious! This fantastic foodservice supplier is opening its doors to the general public for one time only

Vanilla Venture is the premier supplier to many of the country’s Michelin-starred chefs. For private individuals, cooking with the most incredible delicacies Vanilla Venture has to offer is normally out of the question. Normally, that is, because on December 19 and 20, all passionate home cooks and food lovers can also shop at this purveyor of deliciousness.

Special selection of top-quality products
For this weekend, Vanilla Venture is joining forces with Michelin-starred chef Jacob Jan Boerma of restaurants The White Room and No Rules to open the ‘candy store for chefs’ to private individuals. Brandt & Levie (sausages and pea soup from Michelin-starred chef Joris Bijdendijk), premium meat importer Nice to Meat, Eriks Delicatessen (cheeses) and De Nootzaak Gotjé are also helping with the opening. Vanilla Venture is particularly popular with the country’s top chefs because of its exceptional selection of spices, truffles, specialty oils, charcuterie and exotic products – all of outstanding quality.
A sensory day out
Gerard Jansen, director of Vanilla Venture, has often been asked whether they would ever open their doors to ‘ordinary people’. “Something like this is easier to organize during the coronavirus era, a blessing in disguise for some, really. Think of a visit to our open days as an outing that stimulates all the senses. We have a spacious layout with stalls – naturally, with the necessary safety regulations in place – and of course they’re also very practical for doing some culinary shopping just before the holidays. You can always find special gifts with us, too.” In short: an outing you don’t want to miss.
The Michelin-starred chef cooks
Besides buying the very best products, you can also sample Jacob Jan Boerma’s favorite take-away dishes, which he will prepare on the spot. “Last year was a turbulent year. It was also a year in which I did and am doing all sorts of things I normally wouldn’t be quick to do. With all the creativity of other Dutch chefs, I naturally couldn’t stay behind. That’s why I’m making two of my favorite dishes to enjoy at home during these open days: hutspot and the ‘new way pizza’ in collaboration with Alex Klein of Casual Dining,” says Jacob Jan. Around seven years ago, Alex Klein introduced flammkuchen to the Netherlands, essentially a quick, small rustic pizza with a thin base that originally comes from Alsace. Especially for this occasion, a pizza oven will be installed outside Vanilla Venture.
Vanilla Venture will be open on both days from 10:00 to 17:00 and is located at Contactweg 30 E in Amsterdam-West. Coming by car? You can park for free on the premises!
