Double celebration: tomorrow is World Disco Soup Day

So it’s not just Willy’s birthday on the 27th. No, tomorrow you can also dance and eat soup during World Disco Soup Day—and for a good cause, too!

Escape the busy city and head to De Ceuvel in Amsterdam-Noord, where a party is being held to create more awareness about food waste. Every year, we throw away around fifty kilos of perfectly good food per person, and according to organiser Slow Food Youth Network, that has to change.
During the party on King’s Day, soup will be made from rescued vegetables: vegetables that otherwise—in one way or another—would have ended up in the bin.
All well and good, but it is still King’s Day too, so there has to be dancing and partying as well, right? No problem: there’s a DJ, and at the bar you can more than satisfy your thirst.
Political manifesto
With the upcoming European elections in mind, Slow Food Europe will also present a manifesto to candidates for the European Parliament and citizens. With it, they want to draw more attention to food waste, agricultural policy, climate change and more.
The World Disco Soup Day party will take place on Saturday 27 April at De Ceuvel in Amsterdam-Noord. Admission and soups are free.
