DROOG is Amsterdam’s first alcohol-free liquor store
Want an incredibly delicious drink without a hangover the next day? You’re not the only one longing for this, because the demand for tasty alcohol-free alternatives is high. Hence the opening of DROOG: Amsterdam’s first alcohol-free liquor store.
Trend: sober curiosity
You can’t have missed it: more and more people are becoming more mindful about alcohol. Taking an alcohol-free break is the most normal thing in the world—not just during Dry January. In fact, a personal dry spell is something people proudly announce. One important hospitality trend this year is therefore ‘sober curiosity’: people are curious about alcohol-free moments. But what do you drink when you don’t drink?
Not a sad mocktail
Just as the vegetarian dish in restaurants used to be a sad obligatory option on the menu, the mocktail was its liquid counterpart. But mocktails are no longer children’s cocktails or reserved for pregnant women. More and more people are looking for an alcohol-free drink that doesn’t compromise on taste. These days, you’ll find the most delicious non-alcoholic cocktails on restaurant menus around the world.
Especially for DROOG, Seedlip founder Ben Branson and the chefs at Butcha developed a recipe for a drink that perfectly complements the now-iconic ‘alcohol-free gin‘ Seedlip Grove 42. The result: a ‘tonic inspired kombucha’ for making a delicious mocktail.
How to make the DROOG cocktail
To show that genuine taste experiences aren’t limited to alcoholic drinks, Butcha and Seedlip joined forces and developed several alcohol-free cocktail recipes. Such as the Butcha X Seedlip Collab Special. And just like that: you can make it in no time.
INGREDIENTS: 180 ml DROOG tonic inspired kombucha, 30 ml Seedlip Grove 42, ice cubes, fresh pineapple (optional).
METHOD: Add 3 ice cubes to a wine glass, pour Seedlip Grove 42 over the ice and add DROOG tonic inspired kombucha. Garnish with a slice of pineapple if desired.
