Dropcorn is the new popcorn flavor you want to try
Anyone who visits the cinema from time to time knows it: the popcorn corner. Alongside sweet and salty, you can now also fill your tub with somewhat remarkable flavors such as coconut, Cajun, cookies or Parmesan. I find them all surprisingly delicious, just like this new flavor, by the way.
Joël Sturmans from Beesel in Limburg is the inventor of dropcorn. It isn’t the first snack he has come up with, because remember the knetterdel? That one also came from Joël. So you could say that original sweet-and-salty snacks have become his trademark by now.
Dropcorn: surprising
This time, he didn’t come up with dropcorn alone, but in collaboration with restaurant De Gresbuurs. ‘Popcorn is very well known, and so is liquorice. The Netherlands really is a liquorice-loving country. If you combine the two, it can lead to surprising results,’ Joël told 1limburg. The new snack comes in a sweet and a salty variety with a liquorice flavor.
Team sweet
A few lucky people were already allowed to taste-test the dropcorn, and the new snack was particularly well received by liquorice lovers. Joël doesn’t dare say whether the liquorice snack will eventually be available throughout the Netherlands. He will, however, offer the new flavor at a cinema in Reuver.
