Fancy a Taste: the Old Amsterdam Cheese Croquette

old-amsterdam-kroket

On Fridays, I think you should always be allowed to cheat a little when it comes to lunch. By that I mean that the rice cakes and healthy things can stay in the cupboard for a while, because the weekend is beckoning and that deserves to be celebrated with something a little more special. And in my case, special often equals unhealthy. Now, I don’t have bitterballen for lunch (those come later with drinks), but I do love croquettes.

I know that the difference between the two is mainly a matter of feeling, but still. A croquette is simply more of a lunch item, and I have some really delicious ones planned for tomorrow: Kwekkeboom’s Old Amsterdam cheese croquette.

A favorite of Snackspert means a favorite of mine

One of my heroes on Insta and FavorFlav’s snack reviewer, Snackspert, once recommended Kwekkeboom’s Old Amsterdam cheese bitterballen. And sure enough, we here in the editorial office immediately fell for them too: they really are irresistible! Besides the ultra-crispy crust, it’s especially the filling that makes this ball an absolute winner.

Kwekkeboom + Old Amsterdam: a golden duo

And then the big question: are the croquettes just as delicious as the bitterballen? The verdict… Absolutely! Croquettes filled with Kwekkeboom ragout and Old Amsterdam—that’s the best of both worlds! You can prepare them in the oven or in the Airfryer (I chose the latter), and that worked perfectly. So pick some up quickly tonight, because believe me: you’ll want to kick off the weekend with these little beauties.
