So you can eat out in a real Ferris wheel—how fun is that!
36 private restaurants 50 metres above the ground with a spectacular view over Amsterdam: in autumn 2020, Michelin-starred chef Joris Bijdendijk announced the special initiative in collaboration with the Smakenrad. Unfortunately, the Netherlands went into lockdown again and the wheel was closed. Until now. From Saturday 5 June, the wheel will start turning again for breakfast, lunch, drinks or dinner.
The wheel has been ready for reopening for months at Europaplein, in front of the RAI in Amsterdam. In two days, the time will finally have come and you can still take a seat in one of the 36 gondolas. How fun is that? Eating out in a Ferris wheel with a view over the city.
Unbelievably original and delicious
The Smakenrad offers local hospitality businesses a platform to present themselves and generate extra revenue by giving them the opportunity to serve their own dishes in the wheel, as Joris did last year. It is not yet known which chefs’ dishes you will be able to taste in the coming period, but it will certainly be unbelievably original and delicious. During the week, you can have lunch, high tea, drinks and dinner in the gondolas. On Saturdays and Sundays, breakfast is also added to the menu.
Also in Breda
The Smakenrad is already operating at the Chasséveld in Breda. You can visit it there until 27 June. From 1 July, the wheel will return to Den Bosch, where the Ferris wheel restaurant started last year. At all locations, you can make reservations every day, and additional events are organised in collaboration with renowned chefs and restaurants. Tickets are available from 15 euros per person. Lunch tickets cost €26.50 per person, and a 2-course dinner starts at €42.50 per person. You can order via the website.
