SAY WHAT? You can now buy Piña Colada custard at Lidl and I put it to the test

Pina colada vla

It’s a cocktail, is quintessentially summery, contains two tropical ingredients and consists of two words; that’s right, the Piña Colada! One of my favourite cocktails of all time, so when I spotted this Piña Colada custard at Lidl, I immediately brought home a carton (okay, honestly: three cartons).

Custard is the most deliciously disgusting dessert there is. Vanilla, double custard or pancake-flavoured, I’ll eat it all. And custard flavoured with pineapple and coconut—how could that be anything but delicious? I put it to the test and immediately filled a bowl.

South American weeks

That Piña Colada custard is actually one of the products on Lidl’s shelves especially for the South American weeks. What else can you find? Empanadas, picanha for the BBQ and Queen Máxima’s favourite cookies: Alfajores. And all of that simply at the blue-and-yellow supermarket, ka-chinggg!

Tasty?

The Piña Colada custard, or custard as it says on the packaging, is coconut custard with pieces of coconut and pineapple. You taste the coconut all over the place, and you can even pick out the flavour of the tiny pieces of pineapple. Without a doubt, this tastes 100% like a Piña Colada the way I like to drink it on a white beach beneath a palm tree. And at €1.50 per carton, I’d say: stock up!
