FavorFlav favorites: vegetarian restaurants

Kroket pompoen salie

The days when vegetarians were fobbed off with a dry goat cheese quiche are over. At these restaurants, even the biggest carnivores go for the vegetarian option.

Café LaBru

A small café, located on a side street along Witte de With Museum in Rotterdam, with a cozy interior and a Berlin vibe. Go for the vegetarian pinchos at the bar and enjoy the live jazz in the background.

La Vallade

At La Vallade, you eat whatever is on the menu. Tip: go on Monday, as that’s when they serve five vegetarian courses. Thanks to the authentic French atmosphere and simple yet effective dishes, it feels as though you’re on holiday in a French village—but you’re actually just sitting on the Ringdijk in Amsterdam.

AN AN Saigon Streetfood

AN AN is located on Voorstraat in Utrecht. This is where you go for Vietnamese street food, as they have a separate vegetarian menu. You can choose from all kinds of small dishes, so you decide how extensive your meal will be.

Vleesch Noch Vis

Because vegetarians sometimes crave a well-filled pita gyros too, at Vleesch Noch Vis in Amsterdam-West they fill the pitas with ‘meat’ made from soy. It tastes like lamb and comes in several varieties. Also try the Pita Tikka Masala, for example. We’re fans!

Croquette Boutique

Since we’re talking about snacks, we’d love to point you toward this chic snack bar on Bakkerstraat in Utrecht. In addition to special meat croquettes, they serve seasonal vegetarian croquettes, such as one filled with pumpkin and sage. A nice change from that soggy vegetable croquette or bami snack.

Café Binnenvisser

At this modern yet old-fashioned eatery in Amsterdam, the menu changes every week. In addition, the menu is entirely vegetarian for two of the four weeks each month. So check which week to go if you want to eat at this culinary pub.
