First: the first Starbucks drive-through in the Netherlands has opened
An industrial estate in Bleiswijk (South Holland) had the scoop: the very first drive-through Starbucks in the Netherlands recently opened its doors here – or rather, its service window. While some time ago it may still have seemed unimaginable that you could calmly spend four or five euros from your bank account on a venti caramel frappucino without getting out of your car, that is not so unusual anymore.
At least, not when you are driving past the Prisma industrial estate along the N209, where this Starbucks is now part of a ‘food court’ with several fast-food chain restaurants.
Getting coffee in a corona-safe way
Commercial manager Arjen van Santen says that seventy percent of revenue came from the drive-through during the trial period before the official opening, when the employees could calmly get the hang of this form of service. According to him, people feel safer in their cars because of coronavirus, and also ‘not everyone feels like getting out of the car at a petrol station on the way to work for a cup of coffee’.

Fans are happy that there is now a location in the area, they told AD. Naaldwijk, which is not far from Bleiswijk, will also get a Starbucks drive-through later this year, and the rest of these kinds of sites in the Netherlands will follow later.
