For all Mac fans: the McWrap with honey mustard sauce is back

Snackspert Macwrap

Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has devoured at least 1,500 burgers in his lifetime, suspects there is more mayonnaise in his body than blood, and shares his best and worst snack reviews on FavorFlav every other week. This week was mediocre.

McWrap from McDonald’s

Yes, guys, the McWrap with honey mustard sauce is back for good. And now also available in a veggie version, which I’m extremely curious about. But yeah, this photo is just as unattractive as someone who spends three hours on their first date talking about how awful their ex was. Or just as unattractive as the joke ‘where do gnomes with wet beards come from?’, you know. I’m getting sidetracked, sorry. The veggie McWrap is truly terribly filled. It looks as if half the contents have been magically whisked away by @stevenkazan, but I still think it’s the staff’s fault. Because there’s little wrong with the flavor: the fake chicken is nice and tender, and the sauce is so deliciously disgusting. Really classic McDonald’s-delicious, if you know what I mean. But what I don’t understand is why they’re using a whole wheat wrap now. You eat whole wheat in the morning for breakfast, not as a snack. Completely unnecessary. Like adding fries sauce to your mayonnaise. Just use a normal wrap. But anyway, the inside is really tasty. As long as it’s properly filled, that is.

Snack from Brongers Cafetaria Zus & Zo, Leeuwarden

Hey there, Ljouwert, about time, huh. I wanted to go to Snackbar Het Vliet, but it was closed. Luckily, I had another place high on my list: Brongers Cafetaria Zus & Zo, recommended to me by you guys several times. And no, I wasn’t in the mood for tea; I just wanted satay. So I ordered fries with war sauce and a Brongers Big Rib. Yes indeed, that’s a name you can proudly take home. A baguette with a mexicano, fried onions, satay sauce and some lettuce whose only real function is: “hey Mom, look, I’m eating my vegetables.” Never understood it, but okay. But a baguette with a mexicano and fried onions is pure happiness. A mexicano never disappoints: nicely spicy, not too thick, and good meat. Personally, I would have fried the inside of the baguette in a pan with melted butter for another half a minute, so it would feel much less hard against the gums. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s a top snack, though. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

And the fries with war sauce? Yes, I could say a lot about that, but by now you know: there’s nothing simpler and better than a good portion of fries with war sauce. Just good. I rest my case. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Burritos from No Fairytales

Well, you guys DM’d me about these new ready-made burritos from No Fairytales pretty often. And then I know the snacks really needed to be tested quickly. However, I have bad news. Because as nice as it sounds—a deliciously filled burrito that can be heated up in a minute, then you tuck in and end up on the toilet three hours later because it contained so many beans… if only that were the case! Because it’s mainly disappointing. The smokey beef is the tastiest of the three, but that’s mainly because of the somewhat high salt content. There are plenty of vegetables in it, but I’m missing the chipotle pepper and cheddar that are listed on the packaging. A decent snack, not disgusting, but it lacks the X Factor Jaap Reesema had. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The chili sin carne, for the vegetarians and vegans among us, is downright disappointing. Once again, lots of vegetables, the beetroot tortilla is very dry, and above all has no flavor. Such a shame. ⭐️⭐️

But the absolute worst is the bbq chicken, because the chicken genuinely tastes of nothing at all. An average vegetarian chicken piece from the supermarket is tastier. And here too, I can’t taste any cheddar or a slightly spicy sauce that does something to spice things up or whatever. Useless! ⭐️
