Fort Negen sells the most delicious Christmas stollen

Kerststol Fort 9

There are few certainties in life, but fortunately, there are a few things you can always count on. For example, EVERYTHING they sell at Fort Negen is delicious. From sourdough bread and croissants to seasonal specials such as Christmas stollen.

Even more impressive, because making Christmas stollen like this is far from easy. ‘Secretly, it’s quite a difficult product to make, because it contains a lot of filling, and the dough also contains a lot of butter. Making it with sourdough starter and local organic wheat makes it genuinely quite challenging. Fortunately, we’ve now arrived at a recipe we’re very happy with,’ says a justifiably proud Maarten from Fort Negen.

With dark rum

The recipe includes, among other things, local stone-ground grains, raisins, currants & candied lemon peel soaked in homemade malt, dark rum and cinnamon, almonds and, of course: real almond paste. And then you really have something: a heavyweight stollen, weighing 750 grams on the nose – sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less, because that’s how baking goes. I especially love the addition of rum. It won’t get you drunk (sadly, I might almost say), but adding rum really gives many baked goods an upgrade. For example, I always splash a generous amount of rum into my banana bread; delicious!

Order, pick up, warm up, ENJOY!

Fort Negen’s incredibly delicious Christmas stollen costs €13.50 and can be ordered via the Fort Negen website, where you can also indicate your preferred pickup date right away. After that, all you have to do is briefly warm it in the oven just before serving (8 minutes at 170 degrees), dust it with the included powdered sugar, and the great indulgence can begin!
