Fu*ck Dry January: the ‘damp lifestyle’ is the trend we’re seeing in 2023

Dry January: to put it mildly, we’re not exactly fans. A whole month without wine? Hell. FavorFlav’s Eddie wonders why on earth you’d want to take part. Experts have mixed feelings about it too — although for different reasons than ours. According to them, you would be better off quitting alcohol altogether, because it’s simply not healthy. But isn’t there a middle ground? There is, and it’s called the damp lifestyle: the trend of 2023.

And yes, we’re fully embracing it.
Mindful drinking
What exactly is the damp lifestyle? It basically stands for ‘mindful drinking’. Sounds a bit woo-woo, but it isn’t. At its core, you drink in moderation all year round. As a result, your hangovers stay limited. Enjoy our fave cocktails (hello favorite limoncello rosé sangria) without having a dehydrated head the next day? Yes please.
A reaction to Dry January
The damp lifestyle is a reaction from people who don’t believe in Dry January. They feel it makes no sense to stop for just one month, only to effortlessly fall back into your old pattern after 30 days. There is something to be said for that, of course.
How to stick to the damp lifestyle
You make the damp lifestyle your own by applying a few simple ‘tricks’ during a night of drinking. For example, start the evening with a mocktail (we love making them with Lyre’s) and alternate your alcoholic drink with water. Die hard rules you can set for yourself include: no more shots and skipping hard liquor. Need more tips? You’ll find them in the TikTok video below.
