Get absolutely everything out of your pizza with these 10 tips

Eating pizza is the ultimate happiness. Why wouldn’t you want to get absolutely everything out of it? With these 10 tips, you can turn every pizza moment into a trip to pizza heaven.

Tip 1: Order the right size pizza
We previously told you why you should never order a large portion of fries at McDonald’s. That doesn’t apply to pizza. Did you know that you really get more pizza for your money if you order one large instead of 2 small ones?

Tip 2: Use your pizza box wisely
Never throw away your pizza box straight away when you’re about to dig into your pizza. You can do so much with it. For example, tear the lid into pieces and use them as disposable plates. Somehow still have pizza left over? FavorFlav’s Wieke discovered a fantastic hack for using your pizza box as a storage container.
Tip 3: Reheat it the right way
True, eating cold pizza can be perfectly fine. Especially when you have a hangover and don’t really care what you’re putting into your body. But a properly reheated pizza really does make a difference. There are several ways to keep your pizza as delicious as possible when reheating it. First: heat your slice on the stovetop. Put a lid on the frying pan, add an ice cube, turn the heat to low and wait until your pizza is hot. The cheese will melt slowly while the crust stays deliciously crisp—and your pizza won’t dry out. You can also reheat your pizza perfectly well in the microwave. Just put a glass of water next to it: that way, your pizza won’t become so tough. Finally, you can retrieve your waffle iron from the deepest corners of your kitchen cupboard. It works perfectly well as a reheater too. Just place the cheesy sides of your 2 pizza slices together first, so the cheese doesn’t stick to the iron.

Tip 4: Make a grilled cheese sandwich out of your leftover pizza…
For anyone who wants the best of both worlds: make a grilled cheese sandwich from yesterday’s leftover pizza. Stuffing extra cheese between the two pizza slices is more than allowed. Spread a little butter on the outside and you’ve got the best lunch ever.
Tip 5: Or transform it into croutons
If you can make croutons from stale bread, you can make them from pizza too, right? Here’s how: cut your leftover pizza into small crouton-sized pieces. Put them in a bowl with a generous splash of olive oil. Then heat them in a preheated oven at 190 degrees for about 8 minutes.
Tip 6: Get your toppings from a salad bar
Why buy all those separate ingredients for your pizza toppings when there’s a salad bar around the corner? They’ve already cut everything up for you, and you’ll probably save money too.

Tip 7: Make handy pizza slices
What makes everyone aggressive: when cutting the pizza doesn’t work. For example, because you have to cut through a very thick pepperoni. That simply NEVER works in one go. It’s much smarter to sort your ingredients properly, keeping the pizza slices in mind. So arrange your pepperonis neatly per slice before baking the pizza. Your mood—and your guests—will thank you later.
Tip 8: Cut your frozen pizza into slices
Speaking of cutting it into slices: if you cut your frozen pizza into slices before putting it in the oven, you can be 100% sure that the slices will be hot all the way through. That way, you won’t end up with a frozen center.
Tip 9: The ultimate tip for delivery pizza
FavorFlav’s Delilah had another great tip for enjoying your delivery pizza to the fullest. Because we’ve all experienced pizza arriving lukewarm. You can’t always do anything about that: sometimes the delivery driver is simply incredibly busy. But while you’re waiting, you might as well turn on the oven to its highest setting. Put the delivery pizza in for a few minutes, and soon you’ll have a piping-hot pizza right in front of you.
Tip 10: How to always order the best pizza
So many choices when it comes to pizzerias. Where should you order the best pizza? FavorFlav’s Sophie has an answer. A truly good pizzeria knows how to make the very best Margherita pizza. So: good dough, good tomato sauce, good mozzarella and exactly enough basil. If you want to know whether you’re dealing with a decent pizzeria, the best thing to do is order a Margherita pizza. Does it taste heavenly? Then you’re in good hands. Is it basically cardboard with a blob of tasteless sauce and tough cheese? Run!
