Go wild and smash your broccoli flat

We’re always looking for tips and tricks to make our food even better. And therefore our lives, too. That one delicious herb, that amazing technique or that handy gadget can sometimes be truly life changing . We thought this tip was definitely worth saving too: smashing your broccoli flat. So that the florets become as flat as a dime.

Why would you do that? Because you get a super crispy texture. And it simply tastes better. Trust us.
Here’s how to do it
The idea comes from TikTokker Alexa Kliman, and the execution is quite simple. Drizzle a baking sheet with olive oil, place the broccoli florets on it and bake them for 5 to 6 minutes at 220 degrees. Then remove them from the oven and press them flat with the bottom of a glass or mug. Can’t flatten them properly? Bake the broccoli florets a little longer in the oven. Once you’ve flattened them, season them with salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Place them back on the baking sheet and bake them for another 5 to 10 minutes. Turn them halfway through.
