Good news for all Hazes fans: an André Hazes pub is coming

A brilliant idea if you ask me: a Hazes pub. Because how better to honor the man, who loved going to the pub so much, than with his own pub? And it is indeed going to happen, most likely on Leidseplein or Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam.

We’re going to the pub together
?Hey, come on, we’re going to the pub together
Because there’s already enough misery
We’re going out, having a beer
Have fun, because it’s never too early for that
Hey, come on, we’re going to the café together
With all our friends, who’s coming along
Yes, have a good laugh and enjoy yourselves again
Enjoy life because it only lasts a little while ?
That’s what André Hazes himself sang, and his love of pubs is now being answered with a real Hazes pub and museum. It is a joint project by hospitality tycoon Won Yip and Rachel Hazes.
From the old days
It is not a new plan, by the way. According to Yip, the first plans to dedicate a museum to André Hazes date back to 2005, a year after the folk singer’s death. “But then a long period of unrest began within the family,” says Yip. “And it was also a period when nothing was permitted in Amsterdam. That’s why we shelved the intention to create a pub and museum for years,” he told Het Parool.
Hazes (and beer) all day long
It is not yet clear when the pub should open. But the idea is a not-too-large café where André Hazes’s music plays from early morning until late at night. The museum will display items from André Hazes’s life, such as used microphones, gold records and clothing. Various anecdotes will also be shared. And of course, the pub will have a substantial supply of beer.
?Everyone is in a hurry and everyone is stressed
Because we keep wanting more and more
And fast is never fast enough
Before you know it, you’re stuck in traffic
But they’re really not going to fool me
No, today I’m not joining in
First I’m going to take a nice shower, I don’t want to fall on my face
I want to go out
I’m going to my café ?
