Grapedistrict turns 15 and celebrates with special wines (and they’re delicious!)
Wine shop Grapedistrict is celebrating its 15th anniversary! And to mark the occasion, six close-knit winemakers – Grapedistrict works exclusively with small-scale winemakers – have created a special Limited Edition Anniversary Cuvée exclusively for the wine shop. And these wines are truly delicious!
When I started a wine magazine years ago, Grapedistrict (founded in 2006) had only been around for a few years and was incredibly revolutionary. The way the shop was laid out (no burgundy, but cheerful colours; organised according to easy-to-understand flavour profiles), the philosophy (you don’t need a wine diploma to find a wine that suits your taste), the lovely background music and the relaxed atmosphere: it really appealed to me.
And not just to me; Grapedistrict grew into a phenomenon with 13 shops, an online store, a presence at festivals and its own Taste Club.
Thoroughly tested (by professionals and enthusiasts!)
I’ve never bought anything from Grapedistrict and thought, ‘Yuck, I wouldn’t even use this to fill my radiator.’ And that’s not surprising; before a wine is added to Grapedistrict’s range, it is thoroughly tested by two panels: a panel of wine professionals and a panel of customers. A wine is only added to the range if both panels are equally enthusiastic about its taste and price-quality ratio.

After 15 years and an incredible number of delicious wines, the idea arose for a box containing six Anniversary Cuvées – six celebratory wines, each with a label referring to 15 years of Grapedistrict. The box flew out of the shops and online store, as Limited Editions tend to do, but fortunately a number of the celebration wines are still available separately.
And if I may give you a tip? Buy one of these bottles from Spain (Ego Bodegas Monastrell Anniversary Cuvée, a powerhouse from the sunny south), Italy (Frentana Montepulciano Riserva Anniversary Cuvée, a bold wine with aromas of herbs and vanilla) or Slovenia (Verus Pinot Gris Anniversary Cuvée, with fresh flavours of pear and green apple). Every one of them is a delicious wine at a great price!
