Groundbreaking: The Harbour Club introduces dynamic pricing strategy in its restaurants

The Harbour Club Den Haag

If you book a little strategically, you don’t have to pay top dollar for your plane ticket or hotel stay. After all, hotels and airlines want to operate at full capacity even on an ordinary Monday. We’re not familiar with that flexible pricing system in restaurants. Until now, that is, because none other than The Harbour Club is the first Dutch restaurant to introduce a dynamic pricing strategy.

And that’s good news, because The Harbour Club is generally known as a place where you can enjoy a fancy de pancy dinner. That comes with a price tag, of course – as this influencer also discovered. But the extravagant restaurant understands that we guests want more joy for less damage. On quieter days, you can therefore enjoy everything delicious on the menu at a sharper price from now on.

Affordable cocktails on Mondays

What exactly does that look like? The Harbour Club has a total of six locations in the Netherlands: two in Amsterdam, one in Rotterdam, one in Eindhoven, one in The Hague and one in Vinkeveen. The dynamic pricing strategy will be introduced at the Amsterdam-Oost, Rotterdam, Eindhoven and The Hague locations. On the website, you can see exactly on which days prices are lower at each restaurant. In the most favourable case, your discount can be as much as 20 per cent, for example on Mondays and Tuesdays. On weekend days, you do pay the maximum price. But then again, all The Harbour Club locations are usually packed anyway.

Full restaurants with happy guests

Why is The Harbour Club opting for this clever strategy? Owner Richard van Leeuwen explains: ”A steak or a glass of wine doesn’t always have to cost the same. On quiet days, we need fewer staff and the refrigerators are stocked anyway, so we can adjust the price. That way, everyone benefits and we have pleasantly busy restaurants with happy guests”.
