Häagen-Dazs launches rosé ice cream and whiskey ice cream
Haägen Dasz is coming out with two new ice cream flavors for grown-ups (because: they contain alcohol): Rosé & Cream and Whiskey Hazelnut Latte. They are the latest additions to the Spirits range, featuring incredible flavors such as Irish Cream Brownie and Rum Tres Leches.
Making ice cream with alcohol is quite a trick, dear home cooks. If you want to incorporate spirits into your sorbet or ice cream, bear in mind that alcohol lowers the freezing point of your ice cream and that ice cream becomes more watery when you add a splash of booze. Häagen-Dasz has nevertheless succeeded: its ice cream not only has that deliciously warm whiskey flavor, but also contains a tiny bit of alcohol, so the ice cream is not suitable for children, pregnant women or teetotalers.
Try it again, and again
The editors of the American magazine Food & Wine sacrificed themselves and tasted the new flavors. Their verdict? Rosé ice cream is very sweet, but highly recommended for fans of frosé; they had to try the Whiskey Hazelnut Latte once more, and once more, and… well, it was truly divine.
Gin and tonic ice cream
It’s a shame that Häagen-Dasz hasn’t exported these flavors to Europe yet. What’s keeping you? We’ll celebrate the coming spring with gin and tonic ice pops and frozen mojitos from Albert Heijn, as well as homemade cocktail ice pops such as vodka-sour-candy ice pops. For now, we can only dream of Amaretto Black Cherry Almond, Bourbon Vanilla Bean Truffle, Irish Cream Brownie and Rum Tres Leches…
