Have you always wanted to have lunch with King Willem-Alexander? This is your chance!

It feels like only a short time ago that we had to say goodbye to Princess Beatrix and Willem-Alexander took her place on the throne. Yet on 26 April, it will already be 10 years since he became king, and he would like to celebrate. With a lunch—and you can be there.

You obviously can’t let a decade-long reign pass by unnoticed. And for anyone who has always wanted to share a meal with His Majesty, there is good news.
A festive lunch
King Willem-Alexander is organising a festive lunch at Huis ten Bosch Palace, called: 10Maal. For this lunch, he is looking for one hundred guests who truly deserve to be there. This could be for any reason: a neighbour who does important work for the community, or someone who is a true reconciler, inspirer or problem-solver in another way. In the King’s words: ‘One hundred people who may consider themselves quite ordinary, but of whom you say: they deserve a ten!’
King in the kitchen
If you know someone who you think should be there, you can nominate this person until 20 February. In his video message, the King himself explains what the lunch will look like. We already knew that Queen Máxima bakes delicious cookies, but in the video he is actually behind the stove himself.
All that’s left is to hope that this royal ‘dining etiquette’ is a little less intense than it is with the royals overseas…
