Hit by coronavirus: Nespresso shuts down part of its production
Starting the day without a cup of coffee is unbearable for many of us. After all, a mug of black gold gives your mood a serious boost. But waking up with your favorite coffee will soon no longer be an option for many Nespresso fans.
Production problems
By now, it is clear that the coronavirus crisis is having a tremendous impact on many companies. For example, the Mexican brewery temporarily stopped brewing Corona, and production at the world’s largest chocolate factory came to a standstill. Now coffee maker Nespresso is also facing production problems, meaning that its capsule range is far less extensive than before.
Safety and health come first
On Twitter, disappointed customers soon flooded the platform with reactions because they could no longer order their favorite flavor. Producer Nestlé explains that production capacity is indeed lower than usual, adding that the safety and health of its employees now come first. And in these bizarre times, that is of course more than logical. Esther van der Schoot, Nespresso’s spokesperson, says that the range will eventually become more extensive again, although it is difficult to say when.
No hoarding, please
The factories have not shut down completely. Nespresso has arranged them in such a way that it can still produce coffee despite the coronavirus. So no, people, there is no need to hoard. Although we may not have our favorite flavor, there are worse things in the world right now.
