How to fillet every fish you can think of

vis fileren

Filleting fish difficult or intimidating? If you know what to do because someone demonstrates it crystal clearly, it can actually be much easier than you think. Of course, a fishmonger can do it for you, or you can buy fillets at the supermarket, but doing it yourself is interesting and cost-effective. And this video takes you by the hand, step by step!

Once you can fillet fish yourself, your options become much broader than when you only have the supermarket selection to choose from. Now you can go to the market and pick up some more exciting fish than just salmon or cod. Naturally, you can also ask the fishmonger at the market to do it for you, but why not give it a try! It’s fun to work with your food in a more ‘technical’ way, and to finally use that filleting knife from your knife block!

Fish-fillet ASMR

This video is a little long, but who knows, you might find 30 minutes of filleting fish (or watching it) wonderfully calming. And if you simply want to skip to the fish you had in mind to prepare soon—for example, a beautiful large piece of oven-baked salmon with a green salad and crusty bread, or raw sea bass (‘branzino’ in the video) with mint-lemon dressing, or perhaps different types of fish in a wonderfully fragrant fish soup—you can simply see the chapters for each fish at the bottom of the video timeline and scroll through them. A little practice is all it takes; start with some simple sardines, for example, and before you know it, you’ll be completely comfortable doing it!
