How to tell if your Cantaloupe melon is sweet and juicy

When you’re standing in front of the pile of melons at the supermarket, it’s always a matter of which one will be the juiciest and sweetest. But there’s no need to study them endlessly anymore, because with this simple tip you can pick the right one out in no time.

Choosing a ripe melon is quite a challenge. In any case, remember that if it’s neither too hard nor too soft and smells wonderfully sweet, you’ll usually be fine. But you can guarantee the ultimate flavour by checking the number of segments on the Cantaloupe.
Golden tip
Because the number of segments differs from melon to melon (something I didn’t know either!). A Cantaloupe with 9 segments is less sweet than one with 10 or even 11. It hasn’t been scientifically proven, but it’s still a great golden tip from the greengrocer that means you can roll that perfect Cantaloupe melon into your basket (almost) blind from now on.
