In this city, you’ll find a fine-dining restaurant for dogs
There are people who feed their cat caviar and their dog Wagyu. For these people, there is particularly good news: the world’s first fine-dining restaurant for dogs is now a reality.
I’ve noticed that people in Italy absolutely love dogs. Dogs are welcome everywhere and, if you’re a dog owner, the friendly greeting goes first to your walking ball of fur before it’s your turn. In fact, I once saw a real estate agency here in Italy that would give you a dog if you bought a house from them (yes, really). Rome in particular is considered Italy’s doggy paradise, where you can take your dog to tourist attractions and even out to dinner. So it’s hardly surprising that the world’s first fine-dining restaurant for dogs can be found here.
Three-course menu for dogs
Fiuto (Italian for “nose”) recently opened its doors in Rome. The owners of this restaurant believe that dogs should be able to eat just as deliciously as people. That’s why they have created full three-course menus featuring fancy poké bowls and a torta dog for dessert. It’s not only loyal four-legged guests who are pampered here; owners can also come for top-quality Italian dishes. Naturally, from a different menu and prepared in a different kitchen.
In the shape of, yes, a bone
Dogs can become very ill from many everyday foods. But don’t worry: the dishes have been created by a veterinarian (the dog dishes, that is) and can only be described as culinary masterpieces. Dogs can choose, for example, a poké bowl with pieces of chicken, mashed potato, topped with courgette sauce and Juliette carrots. Or a piece of cod with ricotta and boiled courgettes. Everything is presented perfectly in the shape of, yes, a bone. The three-course dinner ends with a little dog cake made from minced meat, pumpkin purée and egg white. Would you prefer a vegetarian option for your best friend? That’s possible too. The dishes cost between €10 and €22 each.
A different kitchen
I already think the dog menu sounds fantastic (bring on that cod), but the regular human menu also features the most delicious dishes. Homemade parmigiana, for example, or fresh octopus with sun-dried tomatoes. Do the dishes ever get mixed up? At Fiuto, there are different menus for dogs and people, and everything is also prepared in two separate kitchens.
No sniffing sessions
The restaurant’s ambiance has also been carefully considered. Beautiful mood lighting, relaxing music and restaurant staff who ensure that the dogs are separated according to breed, size and sex. This prevents any potential sniffing sessions and barking. Before leaving the restaurant, you can even have a dog photoshoot in the mirrored selfie room.
