In this European country, you pay the least for a cappuccino
A real cup of comfort, that’s what a cappuccino is. Everyone warms up with a perfectly brewed coffee with a creamy layer of milk, right? We felt less warm (or downright hot) about the rise in the price of cappuccino in Dutch cafés and restaurants. We pay more every year for this type of coffee. These days, the average is already € 3.21. Where in Europe is cappuccino still somewhat affordable? Research agency Preply investigated.
So what did they find? If we don’t want to go broke after drinking cappuccino, we should mainly head to Eastern Europe.
Dream prices
In Bosnia, you pay the least for a cappuccino: the drink costs just € 1.27 there. You also pay relatively little for this type of coffee in Macedonia and Montenegro. In those countries, you can order a cappuccino for € 1.49 and € 1.50, respectively. Good news: a cappuccino also costs next to nothing in the sunny south! In Italy, you can get cappuccinos for € 1.58, in Portugal for € 1.72 and in Spain for € 1.81. At prices like these, all we can do here in the Netherlands is dream…
A fortune
Perhaps not entirely surprisingly, a cappuccino costs a fortune in Scandinavia. Denmark tops the cappuccino price list. The cost of a cappuccino there? An average of € 5.39 per cup. Good grief… Now those are prices. Switzerland is in second place, with an average cappuccino price of € 5.09. Norway comes next: a cappuccino there costs € 4.12. What really stands out to me is the price difference between a Danish and a Norwegian cappuccino. In Denmark, you simply pay more than a euro extra for a cappuccino compared with Norway. Ouch!
